I had surgery one week ago on my right foot to remove a tumor from the top of my foot. I never had a problem with the area until a swimming pool jumped out at me over the summer, and I just happened to hit a tumor. This is the third tumor I have had removed from this particular foot and I didn't consider it much of anything until I woke-up. The surgeon (who was a grumpy asshole that morning) was concerned about the cartilage cap on the tumor and sent it off for testing. I will get the status of its malignancy or benign-ness (I am making that a new word) Friday. The funny thing about osteosarcomas are that often times they do not cause pain and that's how they turn malignant. (I guess it't not that funny.) I'm sure it will be fine and if not, they already removed the tumor and thats the most they will do anyways so I'm one step ahead, except for the fact that I can't walk right now.
I hope to be walking soon or to be wearing shoes. Winter is approaching. The doctor gave me no time line of any of this. I don't even know what my scar will look like! So I will find out everything Friday.
Monday I will begin my adventure up to the World Famous Mayo Clinic. I have a bone scan Tuesday which will take up several hours of my day. Tuesday afternoon, I will do some retail therapy of the Mall of America (a very important healing process), and then Wednesday I will meet with my ortho-oncologist. If all goes well, I will try to drive home that day and be home by Thanksgiving.
So that's my update for now. Don't have much to say other than I have been sleeping a lot (like 18 hours a day) and hopefully I will get some answers or get back to my every day adventurous life soon.
